NOTE
You can recognize THIS version of NewEdit from any new ones released by
Uwe by the addition of the 'b' character to the version number.
NewEdit 1.8b enhances string gadget editing and manipulation.
Standard functions provided by OS 2.0
CURSOR LEFT cursor to previous character
SHIFT CURSOR LEFT cursor to start of line
CURSOR RIGHT cursor to next character
SHIFT CURSOR RIGHT cursor to end of line
DEL delete the character under the cursor
SHIFT DEL delete from the character under the cursor to EOL
BACKSPACE delete the character to the left of the cursor
SHIFT BACKSPACE delete from the character to the left of the cursor
to the start of the line
RETURN or ENTER terminate input and deactivate the gadget
RAMIGA Q restore gadgets contents before alteration
RAMIGA X clear the string gadget

SHIFT CURSOR RIGHT next word
SHIFT CURSOR LEFT previous word
ALT BACKSPACE delete previous word
ALT DEL delete next word
RALT CURSOR UP go to prev gadget ( accepting contents )
RALT CURSOR DOWN go to next gadget ( accepting contents )
ESC leave gadget ( accepting contents )
RALT C or RAMIGA C copy gadget contents to clipboard 0
RALT V or RAMIGA V paste contents of clip 0 to gadget
RALT I or RAMIGA I increments a numbered filename by one
RALT G or RAMIGA G toggle the case of indicated character
SHIFT RALT G or
SHIFT RAMIGA G toggle the case of characters until EOL or
alphabetic character is found
The reason for RALT as well as RAMIGA is that some applications eg ASL
file requester trap and use the RAMIGA key for other functions. Now by
using the RALT key you can still access the functions.
